Background on the WEEE Recycling Network
The WEEE Recycling Network was set-up in 2002 with funding support from the Onyx Environmental Trust. Since then the team at the WRN have explored WEEE solutions from a global perspective, with a particular focus on European and Japanese processes. It has undergone 4 secondments into and out of Japan, which was supported by the DTI Global Watch Programme, and has taken part in both the DTI's Japanese and European WEEE Missions (a copy of these reports are downloadable from the links page).
The WRN is now 100% self-sustainable from membership fees and corporate sponsorship and no longer relies on government grants. It operates on a true 'not for profit' basis and is managed by DARP Environmental Ltd, who are recognized as global experts on WEEE.
